Whether it's the battlefield, the sport field or the boardroom, being able to perform under pressure is the key to success. I have been in charge of individual and organizational resilience and have focused my career on better understanding the unique characteristics of elite performers (professional athletes, NASA, Fortune 500 executives, olympians, elite military members, etc.) AND how to operationalize those characteristics and traits in individuals and organizations. Years of working with and researching these elite performers has allowed me to better understand the science of mental toughness and how many of the same techniques that make elite performers amazingly successful are 100% teachable. Thus, I now help individuals and organizations better focus on more effective teamwork principles, performing better under pressure, and the development, maintenance and enhancement of resilience--and most importantly, individual self-care in order to perform optimally at one's high-stress job. Bottom line: mental toughness, individual and organizational resilience, and performing better under pressure are all teachable/learnable skills. This session will introduce a mixture of techniques and mindset principles which allow individuals and organizations to thrive and excel in the face of pressure.

201. Workforce 4.0 – “Making” not “Buying” your workforce for the Fourth Industrial Revolution - [P/HR]

Attend this session to learn the Importance of experiential learning to build the future workforce. In March 2017, a national news syndicate published a story, “Add one robot on the manufacturing line, watch five jobs go poof.” At the same time, there were more than 364,000 open positions in manufacturing across the United States. Robots aren't the problem! The problem is an antiquated education and workforce development process. Advanced manufacturing is more than automation and process improvements. It understands that manufacturers must make their workforce. The predatory practice of buying your workforce from your fellow manufacturers through higher wages and benefits is inflationary and not good for the industry. Making, not buying, your workforce recognizes that we can no longer afford to train our workforce twice: Teaching theory in the classroom and teaching practice on the shop floor.

Colorado has launched an innovative approach that combines theory and practice as early as the 10th grade. The result is an educated workforce that meets the needs of participating companies. In today’s world economy, where skilled workers are the new international currency, manufacturers can’t afford not to advance their workforce development process.

You can cancel and receive a 100% credit if your registration is canceled within 7 days of the start of the conference.
