Speaker bio

Nick Preusch, CPA, J.D., LL.M

Nick earned a Masters in Accounting from the University of Connecticut, a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University, and an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University. Nick started his career with the IRS as a Revenue Agent in Richmond, VA until he transferred to an enforcement attorney position with the IRS Office of Professional Responsibility. While at OPR, he was the lead attorney for several groundbreaking cases such as Pezzo, Ashley and Gass, helped to draft due diligence standards and training for VITA and led OPR's project to seek sanctions against tax debt resolution companies.

Nick is currently with PBMares, LLP in Fredericksburg, VA and is an adjunct professor for the University of Mary Washington. He been published in the Tax Advisor, Journal of Accountancy, Journal of Practice and Procedure and helped to co-author Tax Preparer Penalties and Circular 230 Enforcement published by Thomson Reuters and speaks nationally on complex tax issues, ethics, non-for-profit issues and international tax issues. He is currently a member of the AICPA's Tax Practice and Responsibilities Committee. In 2017, he won the VSCPA's Top 5 Under 35 award.

Joseph F. Scutellaro, CPA

Joseph F. Scutellaro is a tax partner with almost 30 years of diversified public accounting experience. As the Tax Practice Director for CohnReznick's Eatontown, NJ office, he has been involved in various aspects of taxation including individuals, partnerships, S corporations, large multistate consolidated tax returns, international tax, and tax practice management issues. A licensed CPA in New Jersey, New York, and Massachusetts, Joe specializes in working with clients in the financial services and technology industries, including high net-worth individuals.

Joe frequently speaks for and contributes to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, and Western CPE on technical tax topics, practice management, and professional ethics. He helped author the AICPA's Tax Practice Quality Control Guide and contributed to the development of the NJSCPA's New Jersey Law and Ethics course. Joe has taught this course more than 100 times since its creation in 2002. In 2014, Joe was named as one of the NJSCPA "50 Over 50" CPAs in New Jersey.

Before joining CohnReznick, Joe was the partner in charge of his prior firm's tax department which he founded in 1996. He is actively involved with the Ashley Lauren Foundation, a Brick, NJ-based charity that helps local kids with cancer.
