Welcome to the AICPA Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) Comprehensive Examination online registration. The comprehensive PFS exam is now available to be taken any time a testing center is open (not limited to particular testing windows).

You may not be required to take the comprehensive PFS exam to obtain the CPA/PFS credential if you have successfully passed another comprehensive financial planning exam. Check here for the requirements.

Alternative option to the comprehensive PFS exam: Use the PFP Certificate Programs to take the education and exam in modules over a period of time.

Comprehensive PFS exam preparation options:

Step 1: Exam registration/purchase — Purchase the comprehensive PFS exam and receive an email confirmation of your purchase. Upon completion of this initial exam registration, your credit card will be charged the non-refundable exam fee. Upon successfully passing the PFS credential exam and subsequently applying for the PFS credential, you will be required to pay a PFS Credential fee.

Step 2: Exam scheduling — Five to eight business days after receiving your purchase confirmation email, we will send out the Notice to Schedule (NTS) email enabling you to schedule the specific day and location to take the comprehensive exam at testing centers nation-wide any time over the next 12 months. Schedule your exam at the location that suits you best any time during your exam window.


It is extremely important that the AICPA has the most recent contact information and email address for each registrant as your email and mailing address will be utilized for all communications regarding this exam. Log in to view or update your information.
